Units
Units are anything that moves across the grid or map. Objects are anything that remains stationary on the grid or map. But we're talking about units, in this case units are soldiers and vehicles. There are four standard unit classifications that I go by, and a bunch of technical classifications as well. The four standard classifications are, Light Infantry, Heavy Infantry, Support Infantry, Special Infantry.
Light Infantry
Pros:
*Fast rate of fire and decent attack
*Fast movement rate
Cons:
*Difficult to go on solo offense
*Low hitpoints
Heavy Infantry
Pros:
*Powerful weaponry
*High hitpoints
Cons:
*Slow movement rate
*Usually posses a slow reload rate
Support Infantry
Pros:
*Excellent team units
*Good defensive weapons
Cons:
*Nigh impossible to go on offense
*Low continous fire limit (does not apply to normal BF2 units)
Special Infantry
Pros:
*Excellent all round units
*Powerful weaponry
*Usually a good reload rate
*Decent contunious fire limit
*Some posses shields, jetpacks, or stealth
*Multiple primary weapons for any situation

*High point limit to unlock
Also here is the legend to identify unit charateristics.

Then there's the technical classes, these classifications are not usually used but I like to use them at times because it can help describe a unit better. There are five technical classifications, Weapons Specialists, Skirmisher, Assualt, Defender, Infiltrator. The Weapon Specialists and those units usually have a variety of different weapons and have a special ability such as shields. Skirmishers are similar to light infantry but have incredible fire rate or attack power and can take down a whole room before they go down, yet are hard to master because of low hitpoints. Assualt units are similar to OMA units but have greater firepower and hitpoints and sometimes are highly effective against vehicles. Then there are Defenders which don't have a good offensive weapon but have incredible hitpoints and can hold positions well even without support, they are like reverse skirmishers. And last but not least are Infiltrators, these units usually have stealth or jetpacks and can sneak past armies and wreak havoc behind their lines or capture a cp under their noses.
Now to cover random facts:
Engineers are immune to triggering mines (though allies can accidentaly still trigger one)
Fusion Cutters can be use to difuse mines.
The Droideka is a wonderful unit in the right hands.
